Growth & Entrepreneurship

Growth starts with the courage to let something go

I've let go of things more than once in my life that were going well at the time. The music, the hospitality work, the events: those were years that shaped me, but at a certain point they no longer fit where I wanted to go. So I chose something new: helping people and businesses grow.

That's the first lesson I see a lot of entrepreneurs and teams miss: growth doesn't always mean doing more. More channels, more leads, more hours, more tasks. Often the real progress lies in the opposite, stopping what no longer works, to make room for what does. A business that keeps doing everything it's always done, "because that's just how it's done," rarely grows structurally. It mostly just keeps itself busy.

At Elevate Group we therefore don't start with "what can we add?" but with "where's the room to grow, and what's standing in the way today?". Sometimes that's a process taking too much time. Sometimes it's an offer that no longer fits today's client. Sometimes it's simply the courage that's missing to stop something that feels comfortable but no longer delivers.

I apply that same conviction to myself. I haven't kept clinging to what was familiar, because growing simply requires looking beyond the known. I wish the same for every business I work with: the sharpness to honestly look at what works, and the courage to let the rest go.

Takeaway: before you add new things to grow, first look at what you can let go of. There's often more room in that than in yet another extra project.
